Enigma; 2022

Enigma explores forms that mimic organic-ism by using materials that reference the intimacies of the human body. The mattress is perhaps one of the most intimate items we possess. These are the objects where we rest our heads at night, in our most vulnerable state. By using mattress toppers and transforming them into organic, biomorphic shapes forms, they begin to mimic imagery from the natural world. The surface treatment solidifies and preserves the memory of how they were once used.

Latex is another material I use in this body of work. It is material often used in safety tools such as work gloves, tool hand grips and also in condoms. It has both the tactical and textural appeal to skin. This series of objects focuses on the soft curves, the appendages and the enigmatic nuances of forms found in the animate world around us.
